Guerra total (1988)

Released in 1988, Blasfemia's Guerra total E.P. is a primal slab of black/thrash from Colombia. This recording has a very raw sound that suits the extremely primitive material very well sometimes reminiscent of Parabellum. The intro sets the tone for the rest of the E.P. and what follows is just hellish and ugly, in the best way. The playing is about as far from tight that it gets while still being coherent. Nevertheless, these guys poured themselves into this completely and it can be heard. This kind of music isn't about technical skill or slick production, it's meant to create a dark and evil feeling. Through sheer barbarism, Blasfemia achieved this goal. Guerra total is definitely not something for posers seeking pretty melodies or expert musicianship and songwriting. This is for those who appreciate chaotic, raw music that unleashes pure aggression and hate. "Más allá de la ignorancia" is probably the highlight, though at less than 15 minutes in length you should just listen to the whole thing.
