Sexual Carnage (1990)

Sextrash released their first L.P., Sexual Carnage, through Cogumelo Records in 1990. This is really intense death/thrash from Brazil that features frenzied riffing and insane blast beats. This sounds extremely similar to Sarcofago's I.N.R.I. which is not surprising since they were both recorded at the same studio and feature the same drummer, and of course Sextrash was clearly influenced by Sarcofago.
The production is more in line with Rotting, with a sharper guitar tone that adds a viciousness to the riffs. The vocalist is solid but never quite reaches the level of maniacal possession that Antikrist did. Despite the chaotic style of music here there are actually a lot of really good and memorable riffs throughout the record. This is 26 minutes of raw aggression that does well to mix thrash and death metal with a noticeable blackened edge.
"Psychoneurosis", "Delirium Tremens" and the horribly titled "Genital Tumor" all stand out the latter closing things out with slower riffs, tormented screams and hellish solos that hearken back to early Slayer. Sexual Carnage is easily a classic of the Brazilian death/thrash underground and just as good as or better than many of the scene's more well-known albums. Highly recommended!
