Taste of Blood (1986)

Slaughter Lord's 1986 demo, Taste of Blood, is almost depressing to listen to. The fact that these guys split up without making more music is quite unfortunate. What they left behind is raw death/thrash with a very lo-fi sound. The thin, sharp guitars give it a blackened edge. One can hear traces of early Slayer, Bathory and Kreator here. The demonic vocals and blistering fast riffs and drumming work with the rough sound to create a hellishly chaotic feeling. The lead guitar solos cut through the murkiness like shrieks from the abyss, complementing the infernal atmosphere and adding to the bestial energy that defines the demo. Taste of Blood is all-too-brief but makes quite an impact. If you're into utterly vicious sounding '80s death/thrash this is essential!
